I am pleased to announce that Brian O’Donnell has joined the Global Risk Institute in Financial Services as an Executive-In-Residence. Brian will initially focus his efforts on risks and opportunities relating to data issues and regulation. Brian was most recently Chief Data Officer at CIBC. He has broad experience in Risk Management including risk models, stress testing, risk system development, and risk analytics.
Brian joins a strong Global Risk Institute team of Professionals:
Tom Coleman – Chief Research Officer
Professor Coleman establishes the research agenda for GRI and works with the Research Advisory Committee. Tom continues in his role as a Professor at University of Waterloo and holds the Ophelia Lazaridis University Research Chair at the University of Waterloo, and is the director of WatRISQ.
Wei Xu – Research Manager
Wei Xu manages the delivery of GRI’s research programs in partnership with academic institutions and GRI members. Dr. Xu was an Associate Professor at Tongji University in Shanghai and co-founded Shanghai Raiyun Information Technology Limited, a risk management services and solutions provider.
Carmen Rossiter – Managing Director, Education
Carmen provides leadership and strategic direction to develop relevant educational programs and training for member organizations. Carmen also holds the position of Program Director for the Centre for Governance, Risk Management and Control Excellence at the Schulich Executive Education Centre at York University.
Mike Stramaglia – Executive-in-Residence
Mike works with GRI’s management to provide perspectives on Risk Management with a specialization from the insurance industry. Formerly CRO of Sun Life, Mike Stramaglia is the President and Founder of Matrisc Advisory Group Inc., a consulting firm that specializes in the provision of enterprise risk management advisory services to the financial services sector.
Karen Tam – Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Secretary
Karen is Treasurer and Corporate Secretary for the organization. Her role is a joint appointment between GRI and the Toronto Financial Services Alliance (TFSA), another public-private partnership based in downtown Toronto.
