Raising Awareness, Seeking Solutions to AI Safety Risks
On November 10, 11 and 12, 2025, GRI partnered with Nobel Prize laureate Geoffrey Hinton, the AI Safety Foundation and Manulife to deliver the second annual Hinton Lectures, a solutions-oriented exploration of the challenges ahead for aligning advanced AI. Owain Evans, PhD, this year’s featured lecturer, led participants through an eye-opening overview of how advanced AI systems can behave in ways that do not align with human interests, including deception and outright sabotage.
