GRI Announces New Board Members

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Naveed Irshad, Craig Pinnock and Lisa Raitt to the Institute’s Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Mr. Irshad is Head of North American Legacy Business at Manulife. He has over 25 years of industry experience and has a deep understanding of the global life insurance industry. Mr. Irshad holds a B.Sc. in Actuarial Math from Concordia University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA), and is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). He served as Deputy President, Life Insurance Association of Singapore; and is a Board Member of Ascend Canada (promoting Pan-Asian leadership) and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.

Mr. Pinnock is the Chief Financial Officer of the Northbridge Group and the Chief Agent for Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co. Ltd. (Canadian Branch). Before joining Northbridge, Mr. Pinnock served in progressively senior finance roles within the Liberty Mutual Group over a 10-year period. Mr. Pinnock is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Commerce and Economics degree from The University of Toronto and, over his career, served as the Chair of the Insurance Bureau of Canada’s Finance Standing Committed, and served as Chairman of the Finance Committee & Treasurer then President of the Canadian Mental Health Association (Metro), amongst others.

Ms. Raitt is Vice-Chair, Global Investment Banking, CIBC.  She brings proven leadership experience in the public and private sector, and deep expertise in key sectors of the economy. After pursuing a legal career for over two decades, and becoming a CEO of the Toronto Port Authority, Ms. Raitt held several high-profile ministerial portfolios. Most recently, Ms. Raitt served as Deputy Leader of the Official Opposition, Finance Critic, and Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.

GRI is delighted to welcome Mr. Irshad, Mr. Pinnock and Ms. Raitt to our Board. We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Campbell, Ms. Ecker and Mr. Hirji for their invaluable contributions  as they complete their terms with the  GRI Board.
