Nobel Prize winner Robert Engle is confirmed as the opening keynote speaker at GRI’s Annual Conference which takes place in Toronto on November 10. Professor Engle, the Michael Armellino Professor of Management and Financial Services at New York University Stern School of Business, is an authority in the analysis of financial markets and will provide insight into current market conditions and where he sees things heading.
Professor Engle will discuss present day volatilities and the impact of current global financial market dynamics. He will explore the effects of recent declines in the stock markets, oil prices, and currencies and the role regulation plays in reducing volatility in financial institutions. This is an opportunity for members to hear from and engage one of the leading financial services experts in North America.
The theme of this year’s conference is Everything is Connected: Risk in the Age of the Industrial Internet. The conference will examine the financial services world from the perspective of emerging risks from disruption in financial institutions’ risk profiles. This includes risk to both the institutions themselves and their clients from new players in payments, banking, insurance, pensions and asset management. GRI’s Annual Conference is exclusively by invitation only for its members.
