GRI is hosting OSFI's Superintendent, Jeremy Rudin, as he provides his views on what a changing climate means for the stability of Canada's financial sector, and how climate-related risks might affect banks, insurance companies, and private pension plans. He will also provide an update on next steps for the prudential regulator, including a forthcoming discussion paper on climate risk due in early 2021, and the recently announced pilot project with the Bank of Canada aimed at using climate change scenarios to better understand the risks faced by financial institutions.
The discussion will include:
- Climate related risks
- Scenario planning and stress testing
- Canada's transition to a low-carbon economy
- Other prudential aspects of climate change
